About the Upper Trent Chapter

The Upper Trent Valley Chapter (UTV) of the Ontario Woodlot Association is a network of woodlot owners and enthusiasts that deliver community-based events and offer resource support that assists with sustainable forest management. Our goal is to bring woodlot owners from across the region together to share their experience and expertise with each other, and learn about topics that will help members better manage their woodlots.

The UTV Chapter has no set boundaries, but it roughly covers these municipalities: Trent Hills, Asphodel-Norwood, Otonabee-South Monaghan, Duuro-Dummer, Havelock-Belmont-Methuen, North Kawartha (southern), Marmora and Lake, Madoc, and Tudor & Cashel.

Formed in 1996, UTV is one of the oldest OWA chapters with a very proud history. The Chapter has been relatively inactive during the past few years, but we are working hard to restore a sense of community around woodlot ownership and management in the region. The chapter is aiming to host hands-on and family friendly events, such as spring and fall woodlot tours each year, and seminars/meetings to cover topics that will help members better manage their woodlots - topics like managing for timber, dealing with invasive species, managing for wildlife, managing a sugar bush, forest health, chainsaw maintenance, etc.
