Private Forest Inventory Program
The OWA is working hard to create a clearer picture of Ontario's private Forests to support the growth of a sustainable bio-economy for Ontario How Does it Work? 1) We use a technology called LiDAR that uses light waves to map a 3D image of the forest 2) This 3D information is then placed on the interactive platform developed by the Centre of Research and Innovation in the Bioeconomy (CRIBE) called Forest Edge which creates an interactive map to visualize our forests so we can understand exactly what trees we have and how many 3) Innovators such as those at Nextfor use this understanding of what exists to create bioeconomy solutions such as car seats made out of biochar! |
