Landowners’ Role in Preventing Spotted Lanternfly

  • 28 Jul 2026
  • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
  • Online

Join us for a webinar with speakers from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and the Invasive Species Centre on July 28 from 12-1 p.m. ET about spotted lanternfly (Lycorma delicatula), a non-native insect pest. There are no living populations in Ontario but there are occasional interceptions.

Woodlot owners can play a critical role in early detection and monitoring to give us the best chance at preventing this pest from establishing in Ontario and causing social, economic and ecological harm. The webinar will focus on identification and survey techniques so that you can contribute to these efforts.

There will also be an opportunity at the end of the presentation to ask questions.

Presenters:

Julie Holmes, Plant Health Survey Biologist, Canadian Food Inspection Agency

Diana Mooij, Program Specialist, Canadian Food Inspection Agency

Sophie Anderson, Terrestrial Programs & Outreach Coordinator, Invasive Species Centre
