In communities with active ALUS programs, farmers and ranchers implement projects on marginal and environmentally sensitive agricultural lands which enhance the ecosystem services those lands provide (clean air, clean water, pollinator habitat, etc.). Enhancements may include wetland improvements, erosion control, offsite watering systems and fencing off sensitive riparian areas from cattle, seeding native grasses, creating pollinator habitat, building eco-buffers, etc. The ALUS program helps to cost-share the cost of establishment for those projects and provides an annual payment over a contract term for the management and maintenance of the project for continued production of ecosystem services.
Registration: Please register through the OWA website to receive a link to join the meeting. Please note that this event is organized and run by ALUS.
