LiDAR Products for Sustainable Forest Management
Ontario Trillium Foundation Funding Recognition Event
Our Ontario Trillium Foundation Funding Recognition event “LiDAR Products for Sustainable Forest Management” is scheduled for Friday, May 26, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at South Nation Conservation, 38 Victoria St, Finch.
Over the last several months, our work has included, but is not limited to the processing and validation of LiDAR data from South Nation Conservation Authority, engaging forestry students through mentorship programs, and convening with stakeholders to determine gaps, challenges and opportunities in sustainable forest management.
The project has enabled the EOMF to develop forest inventory data that can be used to better manage and monitor watersheds and forest cover, and directly help communities and landowners within the area encompassed by South Nation Conservation (SNC) Authority, a key partner and geographic area within the EOMF’s purview. The inventory will catalyze the sustainable forest sector growth and increase the use of wood fibre for economic benefit, while enhancing ecosystem processes and improving biodiversity.
