Erica worked for the OWA for 3 years as the Agroforestry Coordinator where she built an Ontario-wide network dedicated to agroforestry, and before that, as the Communications Coordinator where she rebranded the organization, built the website, re-designed and trademarked The Ontario Woodlander, built the online store, and led educational programming such as the Woodland Walk and Talk. Erica is currently living in Peterborough Ontario with her partner Scott Gauer. Together they run a small business called Treenut Tree Experts where they provide tree services, forest management, and custom seed collection services.
Erica is a graduate from Richard Ivey Business School, has taken pre-medical biology course at Trent University, has diploma in Forestry and a certificate in Urban Forestry from Fleming College.
Erica has a diverse background, living abroad for nearly 6 years in Australia and Costa Rica. She managed an organic and biodynamic vineyard called “Habitat Vineyard”, and then in Costa Rica launched a land-management company that helped new landowners create self-sustaining agroforestry systems called “Arboloco”.
Feel free to connect with her as she is always up for an adventure whether it be foraging wild edibles, forest farming, or making a good old wood pile.
