John Pineau is currently the Executive Director of the Ontario Woodlot Association and a part-time Professor with the Forestry Technician Program at Algonquin College in Pembroke. Prior to this he worked as Provincial Leader Ontario for FPInnovations from 2014 to 2020. John also served as the Executive Director of the Canadian Institute of Forestry from 2006 to 2014. John worked for Tembec Inc. and the Forestry Research Partnership as Forest Science Extension Manager from 2000 to 2006. Early in his career, he was employed by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (1979-1994) in a variety of capacities including as Technician, Planner, G.I.S. Specialist and Communications Officer. He worked for Millar Western Forest Products Ltd. in Alberta as G.I.S. Manager and Company Biologist from 1994 to 2000. John has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Trent University (1983) and a Diploma in Geographic Information System (GIS) Application Development from Fleming College (1991). He currently serves on the boards of the Algonquin Section of the Canadian Institute of Forestry, the Canadian Ecology Centre, the Canadian Ecology Centre Foundation, Forests without Borders, and the Friends of the Petawawa Research Forest. In his spare time John enjoys golf, canoeing, and strumming his guitar around the campfire in his family's backyard near Mattawa Ontario (Near North Chapter).
